"New Broom" has the drum track from "Making Plans For Nigel." "The Cairo" has lots of stuff from "Homo Safari." At least two of the songs have the drum track from "Helicopter." And what is this _Xplaining XTC_ thing? It looks terribly interesting - I must've missed the first time it was mentioned though. Has anybody seen the Lilac Time album in America yet? /j/ "the best thing that happened to me was a memory"

Has Skylarking been released on CD? What companies market XTC? And do the products vary, e.g. are Geffen CDs better in some way, or worse, than Virgin's rendition of the same XTC album? Are any of the albums unavailable in CD format? Are there any that are available that you'd advise leaving alone until they come out with a remastered or otherwise improved version? Lastly, is anyone out there interested in selling used/new XTC CDs? Please email me with what you have and your asking price. Thank you, Robert Dagnall dagnall@ocf.berkeley.edu

Here are a few XTC promo spots I've got on tape: Hello vegetable life. This is Andy Partridge of XTC. You are listening to the violent wonderful airwaves of KFJC, Los Altos Hills. Stay on it. Hi folks. This is Colin Moulding from English pop group XTC. You're listening to KFJC, Los Altos Hills, The Wave. My mother called me Andy Partridge. I'd like to warn you that the following noise, [slurps, pops, and other mouth, tongue and cheek noises], is because I'm in a Fit of XTC. This is Andy Partridge of XTC. KFJC appears to be the radio station, Los Altos Hills appears to be the name of the parking lot involved, and be good to your goldfish. See ya then. This is Andy Partridge of English underwater blues psychadelic pop folk opera group XTC, warning you that you could be listening to KFJC, Los Altos Hills. So cover your nostrils and stand by for the following announcement... . . . Ben Zimmer <ZIMBENG@yalevm.bitnet> guesses for Rag 'n' Bones: >Still no word on Rag 'n' Bones Buffet? All I know is it'll have B-sides and >rarities, so I figure it could have some from the following categories: > >1) Songs on Beeswax not yet released on CD: Pulsing Pulsing, Blame the >Weather, Tissue Tigers, Punch and Judy, Heaven is Paved With Broken >Glass. Actually, both "Blame the Weather" and "Tissue Tigers (The Arguers)" are on CD, on the _Senses Working Overtime_ UK CD-3. >2) Other B-Sides not yet on CD: Strange Tales, Strange Tails, Officer Blue, >Take This Town, Extrovert. Yes, please. >3) Demos, already released, possibly shaped up: Terrorism, Let's Make a Den, >Find the Fox, The Troubles, Living in a Haunted Heart, The Good Things, ... >Angry Young Men, Happy Families, My Paint Heroes. "The Good Things", "Living in a Haunted Heart", "The World is Full of Angry Young Men", and "My Paint Heroes" are on CD, on the _King for a Day_ and _Mayor of Simpleton_ UK CD-3's. Actually, "Angry Young Men" is not a demo track, it's a fully fleshed-out studio recording. >4) Unreleased demos: All of JV's Sketchbook, Pearl, Oh Little Baby, Monkeys in >Human Skin Suits, Dream Down, Gangway for Electric Guitar, Blue Beret, etc. It would be wonderful to get "Gangway Electric Guitar" on something cleaner than an Nth generation tape. I believe "Holding the Baby", "Monkeys in Human Skin Suits", and "Pearl" aren't exactly demos proper but were recorded live for a radio show. After all, why would Andy leave a chord screwup in the middle of a demo? >5) Edits, mixes, live tracks. Yeah, "Cockpit Dance Mixture" should have been included on the _Explode Together_ disc. It's probably going to be the remaining stuff from _Beeswax_ ("Pulsing Pulsing", "Punch and Judy", "Heaven is Paved With Broken Glass"), The Colonel's single, the Three Wise Men single, hopefully "Over Rusty Water", the Phil Wainman "Ten Feet Tall", "Looking for Footprints", "Strange Tales, Strange Tails", "Officer Blue", and hopefully "Extrovert". Some BBC tracks would be nice, and live stuff, too. I don't know about demo material. How about "The History of Rock and Roll"? -- John
