Subject: spinal tap from swindon?

I just got a promo copy of _Breaking Like the Wind_ by the mythical
band Spinal Tap.  In the middle of the song "Diva Fever" there is a
line that goes "can't go back to London, can't go back to Swindon,
can't go back to Waterloo."  Are these suppose to be homes of the
three non-drumming members of the group.

After typing that last line I just realized the strong similarity
between XTC and Spinal Tap with their drummers-du-jour.

	I have a tape of their first album _Doot Doot_, and to be quite
honest I don't really see the _Mummer_ connection too clearly.  They're
a lot more new wavey.  I think they sound more like Japan than they do
anything else.  It's a really good record, though, with lots of
interesting production.  Good luck finding it though.  It's very rare,
at least on the East Coast.  As a side note, the key people in Freur
regrouped later as Underworld and put out an album which is to be
avoided at all costs.

I wouldn't say that Freur sounds much like XTC. I had the album with
"And we go Doot" ("Doot - Doot" ?) on it. Freur is certainly an
interesting band, but bears little to no aural resemblance to XTC.

Hi gang,

I have some questions for any of you if you have the answers:

1. Have people been sending in songs on cassette for the
   XTC tribute cassette?

2. The MAKING PLANS FOR NIGEL cover by Primus. What CD or CDs
   is this on for sure?

3. What CD or CDs has XTC covers by Shonen Knife?

I recently purchased the Peter Blegvad KING STRUT AND OTHER STORIES.

Not a bad CD, Andy co-writes the music to King Strut, produces
Chicken, and plays everything except guitar and voice on the
King Strut reprise. I think he sings background on Chicken.

As I said, it's not a bad CD. I have the Japanese version and it
includes a multipage booklet with drawings, extra added stuff
>from blegvad.

The drawings are noteworthy because they were done by a Japanese
artist, and I suspect that they're not included on the UK Silvertone
CD.

Stuff for sale:

1. MUMMER CD - Make me an offer. I'll mail it 1st class in a padded
   envelope. (I have two versions and need to sell one off.)

2. CD-3 - The Loving. Again, two versions...

both Cds are in good shape and as I said any reasonable offer will
be considered.

According to a message on the dutch 'Teletext' (don't know if every country
his such a system, it's extra information that comes with your tv-signal, the
BBC calls it 'Ceefax'), anyway... It seems that there is a Dutch XTC fanclub
(!) and they tell the story that 'Nonesuch' is the name of a 16th-century
castle in England which is to be featured on the sleeve of the CD.

I guess we'll find out in due time. By the way, if the release keeps
delaying it could be possible that our second child will be born on the same
day...

Wow.

I finally received my copy of the latest issue of The Little Express.
I had already received at least four responses to the ad I placed,
even though I hadn't even received my own copy.

The best news is that the first single is scheduled to be "The
Disappointed", supposedly to be released on March 17 in the U.K.

One would hope.
