Greetings!

Well, since no one appeared willing to take me up on my offer of sending me a
copy of Drums and Wires on CD in exchange for vast sums of money, I called up
my local record store in what (I thought) would be a vain effort to try to
special order it as an import. To my surprise, someone there said he thought
that he had read that it would soon be available domestically in the US. Has
anybody else heard any such rumor? Is there even the remotest smattering of
truth to it? I have determined that the only thing worse than buying albums
at full price only to discover them in the cut-out bins a month later, is
buying an import disc and finding out that the damned thing is available
domestically. If anyone has any info, please reply to the list!

Thanks!

Hi There,

Reading the discussions about the "Drums and Wires" CD with/without LBATH,
I came up with the next question (which I hope has not been discussed
already, since I'm new here):

Q: Does anyone know why the "Go 2" CD is one of the few CD-reissues that does
   not have extra tracks?
If it did have extra tracks it should at least have "Are You Receiving
Me?" and "Pulsing Pulsing", shouldn't it?

The Great Chalkhills Discography states there is a USA LP release of "Go 2"
that includes AYRM, yet there is no such CD.
The funny thing is that "Instant Tunes" (the B-side of AYRM) is on the "White
Music" CD...

Anyway, I hope there will be a "normal" version of AYRM out on CD sometime,
because the version on "The Compact XTC" CD is editted (I don't know what
they have done with it, as I don't have that CD).

I hope someone knows the reason for this...

Bye,

>someone mentioned in your last letter "Thanks for christmas" by the Three
>Wise Men. Is this another XTC alias or something? (I haven't heard of it
>before.)

XTC, recording under the pseudonym of The Three Wise Men, put out a
Christmas single titled "Thanks for Christmas".

                         -------

Just found in _Tower Records' Pulse!_, March 1990: "Andy Partridge
of XTC and John Leckie (Stone Roses) have been in the studio producing
The Lilac Time for Fontana [Records]". John Leckie also produced
early XTC and The Dukes of Stratosphear.

                         -------

Exactly where is ``Egyptian Solution'' subtitled ``Thebes in a
Box''? I've been looking on all the _Senses Working Overtime_
singles and can't find that subtitle anywhere.

                         -------

Has anyone actually seen the Canadian _Earn Enough for Us_ 7"
single? If so, please send Chalkhills the details, so the
discography can be updated with the correct information.

                         -------

Thanks to Mark Glickman for the information about the _Black Sea
Tour '81_ record. Updated information is now in the discography.

                         -------

Chalkhills is still looking for lyrics to ``Looking for
Footprints'', as well as corrections and elucidations for the
following:
    Pulsing Pulsing
    Strange Tales, Strange Tails
    Officer Blue
    Take This Town
    Terrorism
    The Troubles

  Send in now.

Paul Wilde, organiser of the XTC Music and Friends Convention and XTC
fan extraordinaire, has this to say:

A new type of fanzine on XTC will be launched in 1990.
It will be available in cassette form and feature music
old, new, live and rare. With interviews competitions and
much more it will be presented in the style of a magazine
radio show. This unique project endorsed by the band
themselves will feature not only contributions from them
but will give you the fan an opportunity to play an active
part. If you would like to ask them a particular
question, submit a recording of you performing an
XTC/Dukes song, recite a poem, in fact anything XTC
orientated will be considered! The lads will have the
opportunity to comment on what you send in and the results
will feature on each issue. All you have to do is submit
your efforts on a good quality tape to me as soon as
possible. Each issue will be released in a limited
edition and sure to become a real collector's item. The
first edition will be available late 1990 and cost per
    issue 5 pounds UK (6 pounds overseas) includes P & P.
