Never seen this before. Some slightly odd opinions from the
self-styled Dean of American Rock Critics:

Robert Christgau: CG: XTC

Go for 2 [Virgin International, 1979] Last time they were calling it
white music, this time they've released a dub version, and what can
you call that except au courant? Or here's another one. It's Andy
Partridge who puts the pop in their art-pop, right?

i just read michael's post about seeing the band in NYC in 1981, reminded me
i was fortunate enough to see them 3 times in liverpool, one of which was on
the night after john lennon was murdered, an excellent gig and they played a
tribute to lennon at the end, i think it was rain, the beatles song (but, to
be honest, im a bit hazy about that). always a great live band! anybody got
any touring memories to share?

Just a little reminder to everyone that Andy's girlfriend Erica has a
website up that features songs from her upcoming album, "Sunlit Night"
(which will feature her version of Andy's "I Unbecome.") Sign up
there to get access to a free download, as well as early glimpses of
news about the album.

I saw the name Michelle Brown Reyes Smith -- she who wrote in to fault
Colin for his apparent retirement from music -- and for a moment I
thought it was "Michelle Brown Eyes Smith." That's a song waiting to
be written, and I don't mean merely setting it to the tune of Van
Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl."

Do all of you have XTC's entire oeuvre, save certain oddments like
*Explode Together*, in your iTunes library? (Yes, yes, CDs are better
than mp3s and vinyl might be better still, but set that issue aside
for now.) And have you conscientiously entered the composer's name for
every song in said library? Then click on "Composer" and play all of
Colin's songs in a row.

Then argue he's not entitled to retire.

Here is an opportunity to support XTC fans and collaborators Pugwash.
Please vote for them and they could be added to the BBC Radio 6Music
playlist. While you're at it... have a listen to their music it's
superb. Voting is easy: one click. (Though I suspect teh Chalkhills
folk already know this...)

earlier this month I visited a client all the way in Taiwan. It was a social
rather than a business visit, so we started chatting about music. Guess what
band he quoted among his favourites? He earned a special discount.
