I have to wait to April to get the new (greatest hits) Cracker CD, and I have been waiting impatiently for my copy of the Storefront Hitchcock video, the new Devo release, as well as AV2. Is there anything new that XTC fans would recommend? My tastes vary, but overall, my favorite groups are the above mentioned and groups like TMBG, Costello and the Pixies. Any help would be appreciated!

MY favorite WASP star would have to be lee hazlewood (who looks like he could be wayne newton's sinister-looking older brother) especially his albums "love and other crimes" and "40." i take it back, the best contribution to WASP-ness would have to be brian wilson and his band the beach boys, especially the albums that span from "pet sounds" through "sunflower." brian and the boys win the WASP star award. i bet andy, colin and dave would agree with that.

With the right kind of software, music scores for songs can be generated from MIDI files. Several MIDI files of XTC songs exist on the Chalkhills site (including a few from yours truly), so this is one avenue. I, too, have looked for XTC sheet music. I became instead a MIDI maker. That would seem like a very Partridge-like play on words to me (and a sneaky way to mock every "League of D*c*nc*" still lurking about in those not-so-remote regions of the Wasp Nebulae ; hey, how about a "League of XTC" as a counterweight?). Sorry folks) Well, the CD drive in the PC currently holds Steve Hillage's Motivation Radio, the most recent visitor to the hi-fi in the lounge was Joe Jackson's Blaze Of Glory and the autochanger in the car (where I get to do most of my listening) holds Another Music In A Different Kitchen / Love Bites - The Buzzcocks, Feelings - David Byrne, Way Beyond Blue and Internation Velvet - Catatonia, The Best Of The Waitresses, and Help Save The Youth Of America - Billy Bragg. The latter two are new arrivals, thanks to the wonders of Internet shopping. Although I was a little disappointed that a couple of my favourite Waitresses' tracks from Wasn't Tomorrow Wonderful aren't on this compilation it is nevertheless a little gem and will probably stay in the car CD player for the next couple of weeks whilst other albums rotate around it. As a 36 year old, American, sometime tie-wearing, cubicle-dwelling professional with a lovely wife and two little kids I find myself curiously anticipating what I'll read each time I'm sent new postings. XTC has been a part of my life now since around 1984. Why? Maybe it's the lyrical poetry and nice sounds they make so well. In 1984, at Kent State University in Ohio, they were hip to listen to. Anyone remember the Minute Men or Husker Du or Talking Heads? Those bands faded away. XTC has lasted. I'm saying nothing new here, but I'm sure you Chalkhillians understand. Thanks.

Yes, it's a bad pun, but it fits...
Okay, here's my story. So there's this girl I like, right? And I'm trying to
gather the courage to ask her out. I'm sitting by the phone, and I can't
make myself pick it up and dial. I'm just so nervous, I know she's going to
say no, I know I'll be humiliated and have my heart broken.
That's when I break out the XTC
I put on Was a Yes, from Bull with the Golden Guts. I don't know what it
was, but the verse perfectly captured how I felt about the whole situation.
I was nodding my head slowely... I felt like MY head was on a choppin block.
and then I got to the chorus, and It made me realize that, yes, the process
of being 16 years old and trying to ask a girl out may be horrible, but it's
worth it if the answer is a yes.
and it is. and it was. and I have a date this weekend.

Most pagan societies knew more about the stars than folks today. It was the only show in town at night. Without knowing that Venus was a planet, they knew it sure as hell didn't behave like the other stars. It looks like a star, but it doesn't act like one.
