(please treat me kindly) 1) I love that Brookings, Place of General Happiness CD. Not having it with me at the moment I'm guessing, but I believe "Hair" would be my fave for some reason. Makes me happy. On the whole I think it's an entertaining CD, even if a bit off it's rollers. 2) Back when Partridge was doing the signing tour for AV-1, I took in my copy of the Black Sea Tour LP bootleg just to see (it was in SF, so it was just Andy). He seemed very intrigued when faced with a bootleg of his own work. He didn't know what it was right off, so I just said "bootleg" and he immediately wanted to know if the sound quality was ok. He looked it up one side and down the other, and happily signed it for me. In this case the bootlegging in question happened some years ago, and perhaps Andy was just being very polite, but regardless I don't think he was in the least bit troubled by it. Besides if someone's going to drag that puppy out, they are bound to already have spent a fortune on the legit releases. (how many "best of" collections can one man own?) That is all. Re-lurking now. The above mentioned guitars were selling for $29.95 US plus tax. I'm sure the price difference between here and the UK has something to do with extra tariffs, security checks for cheese smuggled inside the guitar bodies, or some other interesting reason for tacking on more $. Not that this isn't a bad price for a bit of plucking, but it would have been better at $18. Then I could buy two. Andy looks and sounds hopped up on goofballs at some points (which neither adds nor takes away from the music) - the whole tape is a very nice little package for someone like me who wishes he could have been there but was a wee bit too young....and not in Germany at the time. The German host of the show makes a few appearances in between the songs as well. Now I have to learn German. Iain

I can understand Colin not wanting to sink his hard-earned into another out-takes collection pitched at a small target audience, but effectively this reduces it to an AP collection, and not an XTC release at all. The beauty of an XTC release for mine has always been the way CM's tracks balance AP's- a mutually symbiotic relationship if you will. Why is he not participating??? Is it purely financial???
