Lyrics

I've been praying all the week through
At home, at work and on the bus
I've been praying I can keep you
And to earn enough for us

I can take humiliation
And hurtful comments from the boss
I'm just praying by the weekend
I can earn enough for us

Found a house that won't repair itself
With its windows cracking
And a roof held together with holes
Just because we're at the bottom of the ladder
We shouldn't be sadder
Than others like us
Who have goals for the betterment of life
Glad that you want to be my wife, but honest
I've been praying all the week through
At home at work and on the bus
I've been praying I can keep you
And to earn enough for us

So you're saying that we're going to be three
Now, a father's what I'll be
Don't get me wrong, I'm so proud
But the belt's already tight
I'll get another job at night, but honest

I can take humiliation
And hurtful comments from the boss
I'm just praying by the weekend
I can earn enough for us
Just because we're at the bottom of the ladder
We shouldn't be sadder
Than others like us
Who have goals for the betterment of life
Glad that you want to be my wife, but honest

I can take humiliation
And hurtful comments from the Boss
I'm just praying by the weekend
I can earn enough for us
I can earn enough for us

Hi !
As a big fan of the album "Skylarking" and an enthusiast bass player, I decided to transcribe all the songs from the record (except "1000 Umbrellas" because there's no bass, duh), including "Dear God". There's surely mistakes here and there, but I tried to do my best. Hope it will help some bass players across the word :)

Cheers,
Florian.

PS : Sorry if I made some grammatical mistakes, i'm french :)

I made the following additions/revisions to your chart of "Earn Enough
For Us"...It's not perfect, but all the lyrics are here, and the "color"

Just thought I would contribute this to the collection. I worked
these out about seven years ago and just rediscovered them.

Corrections, as always, are welcome.

1, 2, 3, 4...

Intro: lots of G

G F C F
I've been praying all the week through
G F Em+11
At home at work and on the bus
G F C F
I've been praying I can keep you
F D G
And to earn enough for us

repeat for second verse

C D
Found a house that won't repair itself
         Bb
With its windows leaking and a
Eb G
Roof held together with holes
C
Just because we're on the
D
Bottom of the Ladder we
Bb
Shouldn't be sadder than
Eb
Others like us who have
G
Goals for the betterment of life

This next bit may not be right; I'm doing this from memory:

D A/C# Bm
Glad that you want to be my wife
    A
But Honest

This pattern repeats untill close to the end, when we get hit with the
following:

G F C F
I can take humiliation
G F B
And hurtful comments from the boss

I need to go home and check that last part of the chorus. I sudddenly
have no confidence in it. I'm pretty firm on the rest of it, though.
