Lyrics

Yes, it's true

I want that apple, just like William Tell
No more floor gazing, no more head down the well
I'm feeling extrovert
I should be shaking the stars instead of hugging the dirt

I swear!

I'm really burning, fit to boil up the sea
Human volcano at a zillion degrees
I'm feeling extrovert
Instead of quiet and shy I'm really dying to flirt

I feel like someone else
Yes I do, yes I do, yes I do
I feel like someone else
I feel new, not so blue
I feel
Extrovert

No hidden message, nothing political
You needn't listen, I just wanted to show
I'm feeling extrovert
I am the lion who's roaring not the mouse that gets hurt

I feel like someone else
Yes I do, yes I do, yes I do
I feel like someone else
I feel new, not so blue
I feel
My trumpet plays for you
I'm gonna blow it now

Fresh and straight from the horses mouth:
Andy Partridge - from the APE forum - on how to start "Extrovert"
(with chord names added by Jeff Truzzi):

*   *   *   *   *

Opening riff is.........

Top four strings only XXO111 (Bb9/D) first stroke

Second stroke all strings OOO111 (Bb9addA/E)
throwing on 11O111 (Bb9/F) quick,
so it sounds like one chord but you are 'gulping' on with the bottom F Bb

then XXO111 (Bb9/D)
XXO333 (Bb6/D)

then same as second 'gulping' chord but one string different 110011
(Bb 6/9 over F)

The inner movement of notes is Ab F Ab Bb G

Here is the solo for "Extrovert". This was my first indication that Dave
G. is a really smokin' player (the solo for Pink Thing also comes to mind
for technical flash) and someone whose style I would like to pick up things
from, which lead to being gaga over XTC in general. It's a quick one, so get
out those metronomes.

The first bar is a nice Fm arpeggio to the big stretch from Bb to F as a
travelling chord progression as the bass line walks up from Bb to B to C,
with which Dave ends out the I-V of the Cm chord. Dave probably does these
arpeggios more along the actual chord patterns, but I like to keep single
note solos as symmetrical as possible.

E|---------------------------------------15v--
B|-------------------------16--13----13-------
G|-----------------15--10---------------------
D|---------13--10-----------------------------
A|--11--8-------------------------------------
E|--------------------------------------------

The Eb arpeggio hammer pull sequence here fits over the Cm7 chord, followed
by the bend (unison with the G on the E string) and continuing down the
scale.

E|--18--15h18p15------15--------------------
B|----------------16------18b20r18--16--14--
G|------------------------------------------
D|------------------------------------------
A|------------------------------------------
E|------------------------------------------

This is a simple Ab major scale slide up pattern starting on the 3rd.

E|--------------------------------------------------
B|--13/14--14--14--14/16--16--16--16/18--18--18/20--
G|--------------------------------------------------
D|--------------------------------------------------
A|--------------------------------------------------
E|--------------------------------------------------

This is the quick one. It follows the chord changes perfectly. Dave is a
major arpeggio hound. It'll probably take a little extra practice, so start
off slow (unless you're another arpeggio hound).

E|-15--16--18--15--------------------------------------------------------------
B|-----------------18--15------16--15--18--16----------------------------------
G|-------------------------15------------------17--15--13----------------------
D|---------------------------------------------------------15--13--------------
A|-----------------------------------------------------------------15--13--11v-
E|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good luck and enjoy. It's a great solo.
