Andy: “My daughter calls her rocking horse Poppy. Originally the song was titled ‘Holly High on Poppy’ but people thought it was about drugs. Even now someone's said it's about dying of cancer and taking drugs to ease the pain. But it's really about my daughter and her rocking horse.”
Andy: “When Holly rode her rocking horse ‘Poppy’, she would say ‘Daddy, I like its Poppy song’. That song was the low rhythmic rumble and high un-oiled squeak of its moving parts. I tried to capture that in this demo from 11th of May 1990. Of course I failed but isn't that the curse and motivation of all art? To bottle the unbottleable. I also have a rocking horse fixation, but you knew that.”

Holly up on Poppy
Canter never stop
She has escaped from the world
Where they bake beautiful girls
Holly up on Poppy
Trotting to the top
She talks and banners unfurl
Their secrets crayoned in swirls
Everyday I
Have to pluck up
Courage to look her in the eyes
The eyes of storms
Anyway I
Love to watch her
Ride and play the alchemy
That love performed
Laughing
Holly up on Poppy...
Everytime I
Look at my watch
I'm reminded we are poor
In hours per day
Every second
Spent with her
's a bulging wallet overstuffed
With angels pay
Laughter!

Great !
Now, after "Skylarking", here's the 17 songs of "Nonsuch" (well 16,
because there's no bass in "Rook") tabbed !
It was harder, because it was longer, and also because sometimes the
bass was mixed pretty low, so maybe tabs like "Humble Daisy" or
"Wrapped In Grey" are inaccurate.
Cheers

D
X*X*0*2*3*2
D+(sus2)
or you could call it
Bb(b5)/D
X*X*0*3*3*0
The next phrase is:
Em7
0*2*2*0*3*3
(with some 6ths &/or 9ths in the keyboard part)
A7
X*0*2*2*2*3
Bbo/A
X*0*2*3*2*0
and
X*0*2*3*2*3
(kind of alternates between the two voicings, hence the chord name)
A7
x*0*2*2*2*3
(again, then repeat from the beginning,)
The 2nd time, continue on to:
***********************************
Bb/Ab
4*X*3*3*3*X
"Every day I..."
There's a DG overdub guitar playing a 6th fret barre Bb chord...and Colin
is playing the Ab in the bass.
G7 (Andy's cool voicing)
3*2*3*4*X*X
F#maj7
2*1*3*3*X*X
F7sus4/C
X*3*1*3*1*1
(hear a m6 or m9 voicing in the keys)
(first ending)--------
F/A

(second ending)-----
