Andy: “Life doesn't have to be grey and soulless. If you tap into your own emotions, you can experience all the colours.”
Andy: “This was the final straw. I was really proud of this track — we put a lot of time and thought into the whole thing, including the video, and Virgin just pulled it.”
Some folks see the world as a stone
Concrete daubed in dull monotone
Your heart is the big box of paints
And others, the canvas we're dealt
Your heart is the big box of paints
How coloured the flowers all smelled
As they huddled there, in petalled prayer
They told me this, as I knelt there
Awaken you dreamers
Adrift in your beds
Balloons and streamers
Decorate the inside of your heads
Please let some out
Do it today
But don't let the loveless ones sell you
A world wrapped in grey
Some folks pull this life like a weight
Drab and dragging dreams made of slate
Your heart is the big box of paints
And others, the canvas we're dealt
Your heart is the big box of paints
Just think how the old masters felt, they call...
Awaken you dreamers
Asleep at your desks
Parrots and lemurs
Populate your unconscious grotesques
Please let some out
Do it today
Don't let the loveless ones sell you
A world wrapped in grey
And in the very least you can
Stand up naked and
Grin

I think it improves the current chords on Chalkhills but I might be wrong. In particular I find some voicing more close to the original. Let me know what do you think. ciao -gg ____________________ Wrapped in grey by XTC voicings: Dmaj7 xx0222 (x5767x) Cmaj7 x3200x Asus2 x0220x=20 A+sus2 x0320x Bm7 x2x232 C#m7 x4x454 Db sus4(omit 5) x4467x Db x4777(4) Db7 x4747(4) Gb 244322 Gbmaj7 2x3321 Ebm x68876 Ebm7 x68676 D x5777(5) Bm7(/E) (0)20202 E 022100 Aadd11 x00220 Bbmaj7 x1323x G 355433 Dm xx0231 C/E 032010 Cm6(omit 5) x,x,10,8,10,11 Cm69(omit 5) x,x,10,8,10,10 1st passage A-5 (x5767x) e-4 / A-5 (x57675) e-7 / A-5 (x5x677) e-9/ e-14, e-16, e-12, b-14 2nd passage A-5 (x5767x) e-4 / A-5 (x57675) e-7 / A-5 (x5x677) e-9/ e-5 ---------- Dmaj7 Cmaj7 Dmaj7 Cmaj7 Dmaj7 e-3 e-2 Asus2 Some folks see the world as a stone Concrete daubed in dull monotone E-2 Bm7 E-4 C#m7 Your heart is the big box of paints E-5 Dmaj7 Dbsus4(omit 5) Db7 And others, the canvas we're dealt E-2 Bm7 E-4 C#m7 Your heart is the big box of paints E-5 Dmaj7 Bm7(/E) E How coloured the flowers all smelled Aadd11 Cmaj7 As they huddled there, in petalled prayer Bbmaj7 G They told me this, as I knelt there Dmaj7 Cmaj7 Dmaj7 Cmaj7 Dmaj7 Asus2 A+sus2 Gb Gbmaj7 Awaken you dreamers Ebm (Ebm7) D (Dmaj7) Adrift in your beds Gb Gbmaj7 Balloons and streamers Ebm (Ebm7) D (Dmaj7) Decorate the inside of your heads Dbsus(omit 5) Please let some out Ebm7 Do it today Db Dbsus(omit 5) Db7 But don't let the loveless ones sell you a world wrapped in grey (1st passage) Some folks pull this life like a weight Drab and dragging dreams made of slate Your heart is the big box of paints And others, the canvas we're dealt Your heart is the big box of paints Just think how the old masters felt, they call... Great !
Now, after "Skylarking", here's the 17 songs of "Nonsuch" (well 16,
because there's no bass in "Rook") tabbed !
It was harder, because it was longer, and also because sometimes the
bass was mixed pretty low, so maybe tabs like "Humble Daisy" or
"Wrapped In Grey" are inaccurate.
Cheers

Change Message-ID: <39DFEEC6.68A46C83 (at) foto dot infi dot net> I like "Kevin's" transcription but I suggest a simpler approach to the chorus, as follows: Gb Bbm / F Awaken you dreamers Ebm D (then G/D) Adrift in your beds... Play the last two chords from the lower inversion, that is, A D Gb / D then B D G / D Try that out and see if it floats yer boat. Great song!
